Diagnosed with a nerve disorder due to a fall when he was barely three years old, Mohd Yakop Ikram, 23, never let his disability stop him from pursuing his passion.
"I have always loved football, unfortunately I cannot play the sport due to my disability, but I enjoy watching the games on TV and am a strong supporter of Manchester United!"
In fact, the recent Bachelor of Arts graduate, who majored in History and Asia Pacific Studies, is halfway through his application for a Masters degree in History, and hopes to be a lecturer one day.

"I like history because it teaches us many lessons, and it can be very interesting."
He said that despite his disability, lecturing would be something achievable.
"I believe if you work hard, nothing can stop you from pursuing your interest and doing well," Mohd Yakop said after receiving his scroll at a convocation ceremony at Universiti Malaya recently.
At the ceremony, UM pro-chancellor Raja Nazrin Shah said, "Universities have a tradition of being centres of discussion and forums for criticisms to be voiced democratically, to tackle issues objectively without prejudice or bias because each viewpoint presented is based on facts, data and truth."
He said that universities today have gone through a period of transformation in terms of the role they play.
"As a university financed by the nation's income, it should produce graduates that fulfil the agenda and vision of the country."
A total of 6,569 received their scrolls at the ceremony. Of that number, 192 are Bachelor of Economics graduates and 468 are Bachelor of Arts graduates.
Among the graduates was Azhar Kamis, 24. He was born with low vision and is ready to pursue his Masters in Social Welfare at Hallym University, South Korea, come September.
Awarded a full scholarship by the South Korean government, Azhar said, "I know it will be very challenging for me because there will not be many Malaysians and Muslims around, but I look forward to my studies there as it is a good opportunity."
Meanwhile, Woon Mei Yuen, 23, who graduated with a Bachelors of Economics majoring in Human Resource Management, was awarded the Doh Daik Seng Award for her outstanding results.
Coming from a single-parent household, Woon said she plans to work until her younger brother graduates from university before furthering her studies.
