Korean rapper returns to Stanford to clear his name

Korean rapper Daniel Lee, better known as Tablo in Korea, returned to Stanford University in the United States last week to clear his name, reported the university's online newsletter, the Dish.

Lee, a member of Asian hip-hop group Epik High, came under media scrutiny recently after Internet rumours - which cast a doubt on his academic qualifications - surfaced.

Netizens accused him of lying about his bachelor's and master's degrees in English, which he allegedly received from the prestigious US university in 2002.

The rumours continued despite the university registrar and his former professors releasing letters in early June, verifying that Lee was indeed, a Stanford graduate.

To further prove his innocence, Lee travelled to Stanford with a camera crew from MBC, a Korean broadcasting station, in tow.

But perhaps the rumours will soon be put to rest.

Friends and faculty members reportedly acknowledged him as he was walking around campus, all of which was documented in the programme which MBC plans to broadcast on Sept 24.
